Constitution
Name
The name of the organisation is Hethersett and The Meltons’ Sports Association, hereafter referred to as “The Association.”
Aims and Objectives For the villages of Hethersett, Little Melton and Great Melton
Membership
Membership of the Association is open to recognised sports, leisure, fitness and environmental groups associated with one or more of the villages of Hethersett, Little Melton and Great Melton and individuals either living or working (either in a professional or voluntary capacity) within Hethersett and the Meltons. There is no limit to the number of representatives from each group or club that may attend an Association meeting although each club/group will have only one vote (see below).
Subscriptions
A nominal sum of £5 for a club/organisation/groups will be levied annually. This money will go towards registration and general association admin costs. Subscription levels will be reviewed annually. There will be no membership fees for individuals.
Club Officers
Club officers will be chairman, secretary and treasurer. They will be elected annually at the annual general meeting. Other officers can be elected as and when required and at the behest of the Association.
No two officers should be from the same club/group/organisation, although this will be permissible if one of them also represents a second and separate club.
For voting a quorum shall be at least seven voting members.
Meetings
The Association will hold an annual general meeting and at least two other meetings a year. The annual general meeting will be held in February or March. At least four weeks notice will be given of an annual meeting. At least two weeks’ notice will be given of a regular Association meeting and any Extraordinary General Meeting.
Voting Rights
Each member club/group shall have one vote. Individual members shall have one vote each.
Accounts and Finance
The Treasurer will keep accurate and up to date accounts that will be presented at the Association’s annual general meeting and at other Association meetings during the year.
Full accounts of the financial affairs of the club, duly examined by an independent auditor, shall be delivered to Association members with the notice convening the Annual General Meeting.
All three officers will be signatories for cheque signing. Two signatures will be required for each cheque signed.
Dissolution
The Association shall be dissolved upon a resolution to that effect passed by a majority of two-thirds of those present and voting at a General Meeting of the club.
A proposal for dissolution can be put forward at a General Meeting by any Association member. At least two weeks’ notice must be given for such a proposal.
Any funds held by the Association at the time of dissolution will be distributed to similar community group(s) or charities chosen by association members.
Amendments to Constitution
Amendments to the constitution can be made by a vote of two-thirds of clubs/organisations and individuals at a general meeting.
Proposals for amendments can be put forward at a General Meeting by any Association member. At least two weeks’ notice must be given for such proposals.
This constitution was adopted by Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association on May 9th, 2011.

- To foster and promote sport and fitness.
- To raise awareness of sporting and leisure facilities and achievements
- To assess existing clubs and facilities.
- To draw up a list of clubs, facilities and contacts
- To encourage local people to join clubs and take regular exercise
- To lobby for improved facilities for sport and fitness
- To raise teams to compete in the South Norfolk Village games
- To obtain, utilise and dispense grant aid to further the objectives of the association.
- To help improve the local environment by promoting sport and fitness and encouraging less reliance on vehicles
- To foster and encourage the setting up of social groups and programmes in order to improve fitness and the environment.
